STAFF DEVELOPMENT

OBJECTIVE: Develop and prepare a cohesive staff of professional educators.

Year 1: Establish how we coach. Roles and responsibilities. Most importantly to establish a great coaching staff that builds strong relationships with players and echo the culture of our program.

A good football program is only as good as it’s assistant coaches. This is a saying that I live by. I believe that if you can keep your assistant coaches happy and working hard then great things will happen. At the same time, those assistants must understand that they are expected to carry themselves in a certain way to be role models for our athletes. At the beginning of each season I sit down with my assistant coaches and go through our coach's handbook. This handbook lays out every expectation that I have for them. We go through all of the responsibilities that I expect them to carry out. Communication is the biggest key when it comes to dealing with assistant coaches. It is very important for our assistants to feel like they are a part of everything we do. It is an awesome experience to have a staff of professionals finding their niches in the program and flourishing in the position they are in.
